I have been trying everything to retain the FPS at a high rate in COD (60-90FPS). Suddenly it drops away to 25-30FPS (or lower), the sound goes and I can't get it back to the higher rate above.
I have just noticed in the ATI Catalyst control centre that my 3D settings had defaulted back to the original settings. As soon as I put my custom settings back in again and flew some missions in COD, I was back up to 60-90FPS. There appears to be something in the patch 1.01.14588 (I think?) that after you fly a few missions, your 3D settings in the ATI Catalyst control centre somehow default back to the original settings. I would be interested if other ATI GPU members who are getting sudden FPS reductions, after checking their Catayst control center, have found the same problem? DFLion |

Try and keep the reports relevant guys, we know about the 109 prop already.
I'm getting the 'CPU low - deactivate Aero?' dialogue an awful lot post patch, only happened once or twice before, with frequent drops to desktop for a second or two when accessing the Esc menu in flight. I've also just had my sound drop out on me completely (single player) for the first time ever. Still concerned about this gradual performance degradation, need more info tho. Bear in mind that if you installed Cat 11.5 as directed before getting the patch, it will reset your Catalyst to default settings upon install (I made that mistake, was trying to run xfire for a full 10 mins before I realised! ![]() Does sound like you might have this performance degradation too. Ignoring the reset catalyst settings for now, do you see a performance drop over time (say, running three or four missions over different areas) or from initial loadup/first flight? |

Up to five missions sounds about right. I found that if I stayed on the same mission the drop was far less noticeable (slight stutter creeps in around the third playthrough sometimes, but not immediately present), but if I move about between quick missions the performance gets steadily worse after the third or fourth, dropping in fps/general performance by around 50%. I don't get it when I play campaign either, which coupled with the fact the degradation is far less present when repeating several attempts at a single mission, leads me to suspect it might be a terrain loading issue. Staying in the same general 'mission area' seems to prevent the degradation or at least mitigate it - if you load several mission areas you start to see a hit. Be nice to to hear from anyone who may be having similar trouble so we can compare reports. ![]() |

What is strange i got this problem only in crosscountry only too. Sometimes i go first Crosscountry and get steady 60FPS and maybe next time when i start to play go straight to Crosscountry first and get 30-40FPS. Checked with fraps, and i see that difference with my eyes too, when i got 30-40FPS there is little warping on lowlevel flying, i mean all details is jumping a little, when steady 60FPS no jumping on trees and other details at all, very smooth then Last edited by Kankkis; 05-26-2011 at 04:27 AM. |

500 ~ 700 ft seems to be the level to keep above for smoother flying
yes, something is awry in the memory side of things regarding retention and loading between missions
