Interesting as to how this forum has become so much quieter since the last patch.

A sign of simmering contentment?

Yes indeed, 3 cheers!

More of a "well you're not getting anything else, so just wait for any news we care to tell you.....at some point in the future"

Not much point in talking about anything until there is something...hence:

I just tried out a cracked version of COD 1.0 and it's miles away from what we have now. Really terrible Amazing how much Luthier managed to get right in a comparatively short time

Well said Zap, he inherited a screwed up game and was clearly forced to bring it out early what I find surprising is everyone still praises Oleg after he clearly left us and his MG team in dire straights.

So thanks Ilya and good luck with your future endeavours!

On another note Mystic, Feathered etc you are they most ignorant bunch of twittering rear ends I have ever had the misfortune to have come across, you were given the chance to be involved with something that you supposedly are a fan of and instead of nurturing it you decided to bite the hand that feeds you... The damage has been done and I don't suspect tools like you to ever change as it's clear you can't see past your own upturned nose!

Yes, I suspect the whole thing came very, very close to being abandoned and I'm sure if certain individuals hadn't been prepared to man-up and put their reputations on the line, it would have been. And yes, we all agree that the game isn't all that was advertised and that it still has issues (AI/single player game comes to mind) but who could honestly say that they haven't received their money's worth many times over? Let's just hope that further development is possible and that a series of ever-evolving sequels eventually see the light of day.

Finally might I just say that although people have every right to feel disappointed by aspects of the release and the subsequent development process, endless criticism is in no one's interest. We all want the same thing. Endless negativity just isn't helpful.

Uncalled for isn't it?

If most others posted this they would be banned for insults, but then as George Orwell wrote
"Some animals are more equal than others"

no kristorf, wrong call there

to have constantly the same mindless negative comments from the same few people here gets really boring and there is no need for it, neither does it achieve anything positive. its just petulant narcissistic self indulgent and attention seeking by some low EQ individuals

either people can provide some constructive feedback in a civilized way, or they should just bugger of and go somewhere else. do any of you really think that some of the SoW developers are reading these forums and seeing the trolling and mindless whining and then decide "o well, freddy seems so upset with all the bugs and problems, why not release to him the fully working flightsim we have sitting on the shelf here, instead of the buggy one they are using now" ? or do you think maybe luthier who was handed the project didnt want to fix the residual CoD problems ? lol, i'd like to see the IQ tests for anybody who claims to believe that he was only allowed a minimum amount of time to focus on CoD, and with the longer term survival of the series he had to make the hard decision to do a major rewrite of the whole gfx engine and thereby loose 12 months (which he was able to justify by simultaneously working on the next SoW release), so the money men could see some gravy at the end of the previous trail of losses.

it was a forced buggy released of a beta stage product, and nobody liked it, not them, not us. you really think whining and bitching changes any of that ? it wont ! now if you look at how well CoD runs 12 or 18 months later after the long awaited final patch, it runs pretty well (and would have been fine for most of us here as an initial 1e release in that form).

seen any other ww2 flightsim lately that comes anywhere close to CoD in its current state ? i dont think so !! and dont mention vague promises of XYZ products that in 5 or 10 years from now are going to be so wonderful they "will be better then anything SoW could ever be", because its just pie in the sky and meaningless. there is NOTHING right now that comes close, and NOTHING is in the pipeline anywhere either !

so what are YOU personally going to do to make it more likely we will ever get a decent fully featured next gen ww2 era flightsim ? if whining and trolling is all they can come up with, i say boot the lot of them out and get rid of them. the only thing that will help here is constructive engagement, not acting like a spoiled 2 year old and have a temper tantrum. freedom to participate in these developer run forums comes with some degree of personal responsibility, and by you or others making excuses (or not being able to comprehend) that all the meaningless negative crap they are constantly sprouting is actually damaging (which to them is a great joy, and hence identifies them as individuals who have not the right intentions for helping to create a good ww2 era flightsim), you personally are undermining the exact solution the rest of us are hoping for.

if any of you here make any honest claim to want to get a good next-gen ww2 era flightsim , what we need now is some major gamer websites doing new reviews of the patched CoD (with heinkill's new campaign for ex, or the desastersoft one if looking at single player), AND constructive feedback on the main residual bugs to be fixed during BoM development (eg AI behavior etc). anything other than that is just undermining what some of you pretend to care about
