I hope that is also true of flight sims, too.

back in my day if you wanted to flight "sim" dad would strap you to roof of car, add cardboard wings to the car, and then toss you a stick to use (maybe a dog bone) and there you go....you are flight simming

In my twenties and thirties I did. Guilty as charged. Like a drug addiction. Now I await anxiously for a new patch to another sim. But I must have mellowed in my forties.
I find now I can:
- play another computer game, we're spoiled for choice
- press the off button on the computer
- read a book
- watch a movie
- go to the gym for a swim
- play with my son
- go fishing and camping
- give my wife a break and take our son to one of his activities (and hang out with the yummy mummies)
- build a model plane
- play cricket
- go to the football
- and yes, even talk to the wife.
I'm not criticizing any forum members, just my two cents worth.
Cool story bro.

Anybody remember the age before the computer - flight sim board games! Avalon Hill had Richtofen's War and the Airforce and Dauntless games. SPI had Battle Over Britain, there was also another Battle Of Britain game, can't remember who by, that I used to play all the time. Lunchtime at school playing Richtofen's War with friends, great memories.

Fond memories... I've played them all accept that "Battle of Britain" in the middle... Damn I'm old too

EDIT: Or rather - I'm "computer old", as with my 42 years I don't feel that old IRL - but as a computer gamer I feel like past 100

It was a combination of strategy and Pseudo-flight sim. Sort of a very primitive BOB2. But I liked a lot the strategy part, and that part is what I miss in COD.

Maybe i will give BOB2 a try, but only as a strategy game. I am so spoilt by COD, that I doubt I coud enjoy the sim part.

Long live to the C-64!!
