Default How major are the bugs they have mentioned?

Blacksix>>I believe however that, rather than presenting ourselves as a team that releases half-finished patches with lots of graphic issues, we should work very hard on building the reputation for making things right, the first time, however long it takes.<<

I don't want to come over as sounding inpatient because that isn't the case, but does the above statement mean the patch could be months away or even years? I don't mind the wait if that's what we are told and that's what gets the game fixed, but to say: "However long it takes" could actually mean a very very long time. I like honesty and I am pleased we have been told about the problems they are having.. However, I feel what's missing in this statement is how major these bugs actually are.

I guess that the answer to the question is that they don't really know themselves. The fixes may be relatively easy or require major reworks and add to that the fact that fixing one thing can break another. (n.b- this is based on what I've read about software development, I wouldn't know a block of computer code from a hole in the ground)

Giving any sort of timetable only puts them at risk of missing the deadline and getting caned for it.

They said these are the major bugs:
Quote:
the things that are the current "known issues" are:
· No dynamic low-caliber hit decals showing on aircraft;
· Detached aircraft chunks losing their texture and becoming pitch-black;
· Little particle "dust" that comes out of weapon hits looking like untextured squares;
· Gunsights always white in color;
· No waypoint lines rendered in map or FMB;
· Pilot and Plane models not rendering textures in Options - Pilot and Options - Plane respectively;
· DX9 support not ready for public consumption.
I think that some of these are quite major- messed up gunsights and bad textures on damage would make the work look very unfinished. I've seen untextured particles in an otherwise finished game and it is very offputting ( think it was the flames in Team Fortress 2 flamethrower- lots of little squares that ruined the overall impression).

i want the patch as much as the next person, just don't think asking this sort of question is going to make it appear any quicker. Its that simple.

I tend to agree Furbs. I've never driven my kids to a destination that takes 14 months so I cannot comment whether they would carry on with, "Are we there yet?"

This isn't anything like that it's a simple question from someone who knows nothing about programming. Jezz if nobody can ask a simple question without someone on here having a clever remark to make then big lol to you. Seriously, it's children you would expect to hear clever remarks from.
