I have tested the beta patch some more.

Land: FPS basically the same.

Water: Reduced by ~5FPS

However when I fly into a bomber formation my FPS drops from ~30 to ~17, this is a problem that the first patch removed

I can no longer get into multiplayer games.

It's always been touch and go when loading the mission/ map/ briefing screen whether or not it will actually load, and now 100% of the time I get a CTD before the map even shows up.

Performance is perfect now though, all settings on medium/ high and looking great with no stutters

The bizarre fullscreen thing is driving me crazy. Would someone explain why we need it? I used to like being able to access other windows easily and now it crashes more often than not.

I am afraid this is nonsense, and an urban myth, brought about by the decision to use 25fps for TV broadcasts in its early days, notwithstanding ntsc' introduction in the US in 41. It appears to work due to the residual image inherent in very early phosphor displays, blending one frame into the next, this ghost image helping to fool the brain (not the eye), into believing it is watching smooth play back. Later, In order to maintain continuity and compatibility with earlier recordings, manufacturers, and filmmakers maintained the same frame rate until the introduction of HD, deliberately introducing image ghosting once technology had advanced to a point they could manufacture displays faster than 25 fps without it.

The human eye can detect variations of a few frames as high as 200 fps, however, only the most expensive displays can display at that frame rate with no image ghosting or residual image, but newer displays are now approaching that level of performance. Trying to watch a 25 fps recording on such a display is quite the eye opener, if you will excuse the pun, and slower frame rates around 30 - 50 in computer games look like a strobe is being used to project the image, the flicker between frames is so pronounced.

CRT's @ 60Hz caused headaches/ eye strain... 100 Hz no headaches/ eye strain
LCD's @ fps anything other than the screen native Hz causes judder (59.4Hz LCD's are basically television screens, not monitors)

I voted Increase in Performance, meaning Increase in Playability

Even duct tape can't fix stupid... but it can muffle the sound.

I ran many iterations of the new "Black Death" track. I found stuttering and pausing was substantially improved.

Specific times in the the "Black Death Track" where 1.00.14101 version had performance issues - i.e. game paused, stuttered or slowed at these points:

00:58 - 1:12 View from Hurricane's wing watching 110 overfly and bomb drops
01:15 - Explosion of first Hurri on takeoff
01:22 - 01:29 Large series of explosions across runway and hurricanes taking off
01:31 - 01:35 Bf-109E3's pulling away from RAF airbase - explosions visible on runway
02:14 - 02:15 110 attack on Hurricane sitting on runway
02:28 Hurricane's wing cut off by collision
02:41-02:43 Large explosion zoom in of Hurricane
03:03-03:11 AA gunner shots (Gunner is offset from seat btw - seat is stuck in his neck[*bug])
03:17 109 zoomed in closing RAF airbase

All of these events and times performed signficantly better in this version. These were all problem points before. Game is much smoother. In some situations I found there to be a 2-3 fps drop, however the animation was much smoother. It does no good to have 100 fps for 3 secs - then 0 for 1 - then 100 for the next 3.
