Default So in the end we are all beta-testers....?

....RoF,CoD,you name it,why is this?

Dev's raising the bar too high?
An unreasonable deadline?(i'd say they had time enough..6 years?)
A combination of both?
All these bugs, why weren't they noticed by the beta-testers?

Planes flying with no wings???(CFS3 all over again..)
These are basics of flight,i'd say...

How many beta-testers did they use?(not enough apparently..)
How do you qualify to be a beta-tester?(they didn't do a very good job..)

Just wondering................

I don't believe anything until I've tried it for myself.

I should get my copy on Thursday 31st March, and I'm buying my brother a copy for his birthday.

By Saturday I'll have fiddled around enough to maybe post a vid, or at least pass a few comments.

Until then, I'm keeping an open mind.

My pc's an i7860 @2.8ghz, 6gigs, ati 5770, so reasonably mid range.

If we do all need to be testers to ensure the success of CoD, I'm quite happy to be such.

It is actually easier to answer your question in the form of a question;

What was the last PC game (you remember) which has never been patched?

There's a gap between a game which is released when it's done and, then, gets a few patches and a game like CoD which has obviously been released way too early and is more of a beta-version (alpha?) than a finished game...

Even if so it is better than no release at all, which I think was a likely alternative. If it bothers you strongly then don't buy until patches are released. But if you do buy on release or preorder then you do it with the understanding that there will be bugs.

It's not the way it should be but it seems increasingly common. Civ5, Shogun2, just a couple of examples.

Yes, we are all beta testers. For any new product whether it be a computer game, car, tv, oven or w/e, the final test is always the initial release to a market and a few weeks after when customers start reporting or stuff start to happen. How the feedback from the "testers" is reported, depends entirely on how well your product is prepared for a release. A hasty release means more flaws that has to be corrected.
