Default Switching Planes and Pilots?

Some of the SP missions are 'Tactical Control' with limited attempts but, according to the manual, you can jump into another cockpit if you want to but the method is described using the standard gamepad. Has anyone worked out how to do this using an AV8R stick (Xbox)?

Have to say I really like this game despte the 'flack' its been getting from some peeps. I would be more than happy if the only fix from a future patch was to award points/kills for inflicting damage to an oppenent that caused them to crash and Mid air collisions didn't count as a kill for either player or are considerd a kill for both teams. This a great game and my favourite, no regrets buying it....................

Using the 'hat switch' on the bottom of the joystick doesn't work?

Cheers, sussed it! Map Button, select pilot from list and then use the trigger - not the select Target Camera (Button A) as in booklet. Can screw my plane up and use one of the useless wingmans instead as these are in pristine condition due to lack of action..........

Where did you see this in the instructions? This game has the most useless instruction book I've ever seen! If it wasn't for this forum, I'd still be trying to figure out how to play the online games. I can't even find cheats or faqs for this game.

Thats not what I meant by cheats. I just meant information on details of the game. I do understand what you mean though. By all rights, once you get killed, the game should self destruct and you should never be allowed to play again, seeing how you are dead. That is why the devs make difficulty levels. I applaud them for trying to make us both happy! So some players can have fun one way, and others can have fun another. Truly, I can't find a single player on realistic or sim. If that's all this game had, nobody would play it. At least not the scores of players I know. Its just how serious a player wants to take a video game. I've seen several fights erupt over Madden.

You'd be amazed at how many arcade players love realistic if you drag them in kicking and screaming, and get them to reduce their elevator sensitivity an appropriate amount.

Its in the booklet, page 11 - 'Tactical Control' single missions only where stated in the briefing. If your plane suffers damage and the handling is compromised you can switch to another one in your flight group, your plane will still be piloted but your wingman will have the duff plane. Or, assign a pilot to a target, if he can't do the buisiness you can take over.... Using tactical control allows you to prevent being killed as there are limited attempts to complete the mission.

Plenty of SIM games last night (which I really enjoyed) even though my Kill rate plummets, managed two in about 6 games. Much more satisfying when you do get a kill and the guys in my team were very patient and didn't mind having a pretty useless rookie like me. Best game was organised into Axis v Allies which made spotting the enemy far easier and lots of chat concerning who was where and on whose tail makes for a really fantastic experience.

You might be right about the sim players getting stuck having to play arcade. I may be one some day soon. But still, there are tons of casual players who would not even try this game if it didn't have an arcade level. I now have over 30 friends and play every night just about. I've only run into 2 from this forum so far. Listening to the chatter on the phones, the "casual" players are having a lot of fun, me included. The patch may help this situation some.
