kind of a small trade in exchange for having a real feeling of flying in a real war, not in a deserted Europe sky.. I've learned more about energy states and situation awareness in the few beta days I've played than in all the months after IL2CoD release

and.. competition is the mother of progress
Lol dear oh dear... reminds me of Modern Warfare vs Arma 2 I know which is "real" and it's not the former. Just because you are in a small map and forced into a quick battle doesn't make it in anyway realistic, flying around in a group and stumbling into an enemy group or via radar... Now that's a "real" ww2 flight sim.. I CANNOT wait for a good rolling front online campaign

I own many flight sim games, enjoy flying all of them, and yes, the feeling of flight and control is obviously different in each game, but they are great to fly and enjoy non the less...
Loosen up, and grow up some of you for god's sake.. and ed is correct, this is exactly how a thread turns into a flame war.

For someone who plays farmville the whole day long and likes even dog poop more than CloD you spend good amount of time on these forums.

In case you did not notice before: in your browser you're actually able to visit other URL's than the 1c CloD forums.

As for one of the other games, the one without thunder. I played it when the beta started and I was surprised how crappy flying can be. For them it's not about flying - it's about making money and selling simple arcade shooters with a unique setting. On top of everything it's not even about skills - it's only about money and grind time invested.
If you want a great duel, aim, awareness and tactics battle go for quake, unreal, quakelive or whatever. But wait, most people don't even come close to the skills required and rather invest in gold ammo and premium accounts just to be able to play with friends and get an xp boost.

As for the games themselves - I'm not even sure if it's worth to talk about them at all. They're not what we like - rather they're something completely unrelated to simming or flying. There are worlds between the games and in some aspects they're better, equal or worse. It's more a matter of taste. Sadly the dumbed down gameplay these days affects the sim community a lot. Everyone is expected to abide by the rules of "even monkeys need to be able to play it" - provide mouse or gamepad support. Joysticks? Real aircraft controls? What monkey can't handle isn't necessary anymore.

That's pretty funny. It's better in everything except the important things.

Working on it for BoM. The current map is pretty lousy for rolling-front online wars.

I guess I just know how to get more out of life...But I play MORE then one game on my computer. I find that I have room for several different flight/combat simulators in my life...

Same here, but only the good ones..

DCS Blackshark

DCS A10

and thinking about DCS P-51, but as I don't play the others much I am only thinking about it.

Rise of Flight (but I am currently not supporting that for my own reasons, still a great sim)

This is not about only playing one game, this is about seeing through the fancy filters and seeing the lack of any depth beyond a dogfight game...
