Golden rule of running a forum; don't allow rubbish/trash from other forums to be brought up there. It's not on

Tree; as much as I agree with you, you do like playing with fire....

Please don't let an argument break out in a thread entitled "Regarding whining and politeness"...

...all we need now is Zapatista....

ok, please, back to the serious stuff

I suggest starting with "Oleg, I love you!!!", and then bashing Tree two or three pages, before describing the features you want to see improved as you'd describe your girlfriend's looks while she's listening.

I'm sure that she will cling to every word from the former sexpertean. As you describe her luscious body in as great a detail, as a SOW spit cockpit....scratch that last word

To be honest I often do not even read the updates at all anymore. Its too much like watching a political debate, all inflated ego's and little facts.

The worry is most casual browsers curious about the "new game" they have heard about will react the same way and not bother reading past the first few argumentative posts.

If anything the update threads are probably detrimental to the long-term success of the game.

I can only speculate that if Mr. Oleg wanted to, he could disable all comments and leave us alone to ponder our own thoughts. I am very proud of Mr.Maddox and his willingness to put up with the whims of our less polite sim enthusiast. I would just tell everyone that the next update would be in "two weeeks" AND LEAVE IT AT THAT! I am not him so i'm sure all would appreciate that. Now if I can, a new twist on the big bum comments. Go ahead and be rude and tell her she looks like she digested a whole town full of children. See how long before she leaves you for the arms of another. For what you throw away another may welcome with open arms. So next time, just thank it and spank it. Be grateful she's not bouncing around in and on another simmers virtual pilot seat.

I felt embarassed and sad after Oleg's reaction. A lot of the good-will between users and developers went out the window that day.

Maybe you guys have ideas on how to expand this note for the period around release?

(I think a key thing for people to realise is that Oleg doesn't have any real competitors. His ten year old Il-2 engine is the only major WWII sim and no one is trying to outdo it. So, the standard business model would would be to release something with as little work done as possible - a minor improvement over past products, sold at the same price.

This is how you make money. This is what business advice would say. Yet, Oleg is developing the best product he can without going bankrupt.

Somehow most people don't see this. Oleg doesn't owe people every detail of development or immediate release of every feature. However, I also disagree with those who say that the relationship with the developer is a purely financial one - with a take it or leave it attitude. Oleg has never done what made business sense and he has consulted with the community from day one (listening a great deal). This is not standard Capitalism this is something a little bit cleverer and more collaborative.

The way some people are acting, it is like they show up for closing time at a gourmet restaurant, the staff decided to keep it open for them, the chef comes out to deliver the food himself - and before even tasting the food they'd complain that they thought there would be 25 peas instead of 20.
