I bought myself a Roccat Kave 5.1 headset for Christmas. I think it's quite a lot better than the Creative Fatality set I was using (although I would also recommend that set as well) mainly as far as sound quality is concerned. They both have a removable microphone with a flexible neck - but the Roccat's mike has been praised by my team-mates for the added clarity it brings to my TeamSpeak utterances - and the new mike is certainly of a better build quality.

This headset is heavier than the Creative one but it's a better fit. The padding on the headband and the cups is stitched leather instead of foam, and the hinges on the cups are cast aluminium. Headband adjustment is easy, with numbered graduations on either side for those who want to get everything 'just so' There is good space to easily fit a 'track clip pro' if you are into TrackIR.

Sound-wise I'm impressed by the clarity and the extra sounds that I'm able to discern thanks to the extra channels. I was flying a RoF mission in an Airco DH2, creeping up on a German two-seater. When the tail-gunner spotted me and opened fire I could here the sound of his bullets whizzing by my ears! Not very loudly, considering the roar of the engine behind me, but clear enough to bring this extra factor to my attention. I hadn't ever picked up on that with the Creative set.

Finally, controls-wise, the Kave is in a league of it's own. While most headsets sport an in-line controller for volume and mic off/on - the Roccat has a solid desk-mounting box which allows adjustment of volume, plus adjustment of each channel (front, left, right & sub-woofer), along with a device mute, a microphone-only mute, and a switch for gaming or movie-watching pre-sets. The tip of the mike has a blue LED which lights up when the mute is on. There is another blue LED on the box itself which flashes if the whole system is muted.
Finally, there is plenty of cable between the PC soundcard jack and the controller, and from there to the headset.

Five stars from me - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...odid=SP-000-RC

Yeah if you have limited money get the track ir, if you need both but don't have the money some here swear by freetrack.. It's a cheaper alternate to the track r but I have never used it.
