(c) years of Tree's unrelenting negativity scared away so many potential buyers that the developer couldn't afford to hire a community manager.

Seriously I'm sure initial sales were good when they discussed hiring a community manager, but probably tailed off considerably when the state of the game became known. Maybe after a few patches a positive buzz might attract more sales. The original IL-2 also started slow because most people never heard of the aircraft or the sim.

They attempted to recruit but made the mistake of letting the applicants read the forums.

All that was left was someone who has to wear a hockey mask and is only let out to help solve serial killings and guy who lives on a park bench and shouts at pigeons.
