I was there (Hawkinge airfield & BoB museum) in 1992 while i was learning english in Hastings.

I was looking for the places where the famous FOX pictures where made on 29.July 1940 on the Hawkinge airfield (men & planes of 32 Sqn + 610 Sqn.).

Now I`m very glad I made this, because now the place are not the same anymore.

But the BoB Kent Museum is great, and i`m looking foreward to visit again someday!

Yeah,I know
Boris keeps bleeting on about plans for Thames Estuary Airport near the Isle of Grain
which is in a conservation area and a Bird Sanctuary not to mention the SS Richard Montgomery, the WW2 partially Sunken Liberty ship in the mouth of the Thames Estuary which is ladden with 1500 Tonnes of Explosives which is so volatile a 2 Mile exclusion zone has been set up around it,According to a BBC news report, it was determined that if the wreck of Richard Montgomery exploded, it would throw a 1,000-foot-wide (300 m) column of water and debris nearly 10,000 feet (3,000 m) into the air and generate a wave 16 feet (5 m) high. Almost every window in Sheerness would be broken and buildings would be damaged by the blast.

Map of the Thames Estuary with locations of proposed airports. 1. Cliffe; 2. Grain (Thames Hub); 3. Foulness; 4. Off the Isle of Sheppey; 5. Shivering Sands ("Boris Island").

Manston would have been the perfect choice,Pupose built, low impact on local communities and wildlife as well as a long runway to accomodate Large Airliners as
well as being better located for transport links to London.
Makes no sense closing it down

Hi Larry!

Excellent compositions! I hope that the Luftwaffe crews brought plenty of summer Weiss-bier for all to drink at Duxford
