Actually, it's not a nice slick anything. I'm sorry you feel that way and I'm sorry your squad will be absent this season. The rules aren't finalized because the squads have direct input until the season begins. This is why we call them the "Draft Rules", this is why we call it "The United Squadrons League".
I hope you will give your folks the opportunity to compete in the seasons to come. I hope you decide to help change what you feel would better the competition by actually being there to add your input. That kind of interaction is important and key to the future of what we do. Maybe you or a representative of your squad should sit on the Board of Directors. There are two seats left and I can't imagine a better way to insure that your satisfied with the direction. Your concerns are valid, but without your input, we miss opportunity to improve. If this is of interest to you, lets talk on the USL TeamSpeak. I would be happy to fill in any gaps regarding structure, match play, or any other questions you are not getting answered on the forum. If that goes well, I would extend an invite to the next board meeting, where the final rule draft will be the topic. What say you? Last edited by Lazarus; 12-09-2008 at 04:48 AM. |

Be careful what you ask for. You may not know, I ran Ghost Skies, which was a ladder Dog Fight competition, for a couple years. I'm basically a rules lawyer after that, looking to close every loophope and flaw. So, when I don't even see a starting point for rules, it just makes me thing of the nightmare ahead.
But my reason is asking is that in order to sell your league to my squadron, I'd have to have something to sell. Right now USL sounds like it's under construction, but we'd have to get in with just the foundation laid. In order to fly your league we'd have to re-arrange, and possibly reduce, our commitments with other activities. Right now I've got nothing to convince them to do that. As far as personally committing to helping develop your rules, I don't have the spare time. So, maybe once the rules get hashed out, you can post them, and we can go from there. But if your league has been around for years, why aren't the rules set? I can understand necessary adjustments, but having nothing but that draft? Did you scrap the old set and are starting fresh? |

I agree, make sure to have your rules setup already and well explained..
We in TUSA we have a lot of experiences on that matter, we did it for years the "International Online Combat League" and "Servers Wars" Til we ended up with no one else to fight ... we know why ![]() Last edited by GOZR; 12-12-2008 at 12:38 AM. |

Gentlemen,
The reason that the final rules haven't been posted earlier is because, as part of the structure, each team has 2 Liaisons that represent them in the rule structuring process to insure that all teams have invested their input into the rule process. Sometimes Liaisons debate dot ranges, nav lights, friendly icons, and the like. The Liaisons then vote and the draft rules are finalized. There usually isn't a whole lot of changes made but each season develops new experiences that the teams like to discuss and sometimes amend. This process actually brings the flight community closer together. That's why I hope, next season you can be part of the process, especially with the experience your group has. Final rules are posted, league matches have been scheduled. http://www.uslglobal.com Last edited by Lazarus; 12-20-2008 at 05:08 PM. |

United Squadrons League Final Rules are up with the exception of the Final Closed Pit Icons (on/off), and Dot ranges, which are being hammered out this week by the Squadron Liaisons.
The USL will meet its scheduled opening date of January 12th, 2009. Ah, but Squadron registration is closed, too bad. We specifically wanted an organization that would be run by the community of squads, and it seems we have it. 18 Squads in two divisions for Open Pit. 18 Squads in two divisions for Closed Pit. A Nine match schedule for each team that takes us through 18 weeks. And a playoff structure in place after that, that gives us a Champion for each Closed and Open Pit. From Khalkhin Gol through Stalingrad and the Bulge to Burma, we have a seasons worth of original historical maps ready to play. Slick it may be, some may call that professionally packaged. Whatever it is, it is the product of months of planning and haggling and debating and organizing. And it will Rock! Kudos to Lazarus, who took an orphaned league (not for lack of participation), gave it home, and with a dedicated group of IL2 pilots (which I am lucky enough to be a part of), has created, a solid, functioning operation, that is 50% larger than it was last year. The Tempest Union competed last year, and the action, the teamwork, the intensity of the missions and the dogfights, surpassed anything I had experienced in any game in any server. Sorry you guys sat it out this year, sign up early next year, the slots will be limited. ![]() |

One Closed Pit slot has become available!
Because of a Closed Pit Team's last minute cancellation a slot in the Closed pit division has opened up. Our alternatives are a bye week for that teams opponents, or a last minute fill in. If you have a squadron ready to compete, if you wanted to sign up but missed the deadline, here's your chance. Immediately connect to USL Global and register your team in the Closed Pit Team Registration topic. All squadron members wishing to compete, must also register at the USL Forums. Closed pit competition begins in a week and a half.
