At the recommendation of 1C support, I tried running on a single CPU of my 4 core processor. It worked like a dream; I was able to play for 3 hours crash free. I'm just tossing this in here in case anyone else is still running into the C++ Runtime crash on a 64-bit multicore machine.

Try running the game with one core only and see if there is any difference in number of crashes.

1. Launch the game into main menu
2. Use Alt+Tab to switch back to desktop
3. Run task manager (press ctrl+alt+del) and click on "Processes" tab
4. Here, you should see something like "kb.exe" in the list. Right click on it with your mouse button and click "Set affinity"
5. Leave only one core checked (uncheck others)
6. Try running the game now and see if it helps
