is it best to do the kings quests asap before all the side quests so you get the third and fourth rage creatures? then go back and get experience with them?

You can get the 2nd rage creature as soon as you get the box.
The 1st on requires you to be able to win a tough fight (On Hard as a Mage it is tough). The 3rd rage creature requires you to get to an area that involves fighting a level 15 hero with a average army for that level so I don't think you can beat it on med until 12th level at the earliest. I have not gotten the 4th rage create at 16th level yet. Sammual
