I would love to see the object viewer updated, but I'm afraid I have neither the knowledge or the resources to be able to assist in this worthy cause. Of course it is because of that very ignorance about many aircraft and other objects that I like to look at the viewer, so I hope Caspars idea takes off (pun intended Good idea, and good luck !

Although there's the risk of "dueling statistics", this is a good project and one which can easily involve people who are otherwise unable to contribute to IL2.
I can do research for the English language portion of the project, although my translation skills aren't good enough to allow me to translate to other languages. |

Any chance we can have the viewer as a single entity (or accesible while flying)?
Most times I want some info on a plane is when I'm flying it or against it. I think everyone knows Hardballs and Il2compare, if the ingame viewer would provide same level of data that would be great - IMHO it would need to be better than wikipedia or not worth the effort. Nice to have would be some info how to use planes ingame - current viewer is lacking that. And an armament section would be highly useful. There are some weapons out there that could use a "how to" guide - the info is in the manual, or in some vid, but it would be nice to have all that in one place. Translation to German is all I can offer. |

This may be something altogether different but many players have mentioned over the years the need for something more immediate in terms of aircraft descriptions while operating in the multiplayer environment. I'm not sure what this would look like but an information option when selecting aircraft before heading out into a dogfight scenario for example.
It'd be more basic than the object viewer in terms of information but it would need to give vital stats.

I might be able to assist with info on some aircraft. This is tentative as I only have a few sources (mostly some scanned flight manuals that everyone else has, I'm sure).
I do think it's a worthy cause. |

I'd offer to help with translations into German, too.

I ticked "I would provide info on planes" but what I really meant is I would provide info on ships --- no option for that
In my modded installation I have enabled the in-game viewer for any new ships, some with text, many just with a view of the model. It would be nice to have the text in a popup window and be able to keep the model view on screen. At present you can only have one or the other. Basic text with standard spec for each model, all in an agreed format would be easy and fairly quick to do. The game uses Uni-Code text for the text windows with a small number of text formatting options. Expanded text for selected models could include service history. There maybe issues of copyright if this text is cut and pasted from reference books without re-drafting. Similar things could be done for Tanks and Vehicles & Artillery categories. The latter should maybe be split into separate categories. Just a basic spec and period of use, to an agreed format initially, with more detailed info to be added only to specific models dependant on enthusiasm. Ashe |

Anyway, most of the data I'm interested in are already programmed into the game -- the only problem is that I can't access them in a convenient way. As to the willingness to contribute, translations into Hungarian (from English or German) would be pretty useless, ehh?
