Question on Saitek Combat Pedals Wheelbrakes

Hi Don,

The RAF fighters did not have toe brakes, so they aren't programmed to utilize them on your Saitek Combat Pedals. As per Kodiak's response to you, you must assign a joystick button or keyboard key to "brakes".

To steer your RAF fighter you must use your rudder pedals (not toe brakes) to turn in the desired direction, then apply the brake key to tighten the desired turn as necessary. Although not animated in this sim, depressing the brake key/button activates the brake handle located behind the spade grip on the control column. There is an air pressure gauge on the left side of the instrument panel that functions, and you can clearly see which wheel brake is being engaged when you manipulate your rudder pedals. For straightforward, non-directional braking, simply leave your pedals centered when you depress the brake button/key.

This final patch has softened up the braking force exerted; before it was far too sensitive and you could easily flip nose down even at very low speeds.

you must assign a joystick button or keyboard key to "brakes"

If you fly only English planes use pedal software and assign pedal brakes axis to generate keys, ie right pedal Alt+B, left pedal Shift+B.

In Controls > Keys assign Alt+B "Full Wheel Brakes".
Then click in New - to creat a new command "Full Whel Brakes"* and assign Shift+B to this.

So in English planes to simulate "toe brakes" press right brake pedal (Alt+B) and push right rudder... Press left pedal (Alt+B) and push left rudder.

Not good for German planes - that use true "toe brakes - since with this arrange you lost "proportional" brake efect possible in this planes.

* CloD controls allow use "infinite" keys to do the same thing, just creat a new command for any function.

Since I fly basicaly Blenheim I use joystick X axis + a joystick button (as axis modifier) to brake.
