Well back on topic shall we?

It is good news this has been confirmed. Its the only way the series can have any hope of becoming stronger over time.

I just prey this patch leaves us with something that is good enough to keep the online community alive until the sequel can bring the series back from the dead.

Not sure its good news, but its not as bad as it could have been. I hope the patch at least stabilizes this thing and allows basic stuff like AA and the landscape no longer shimmers. The FM etc can wait until the sequel that I will not buy until far after the reviews are in...and only will buy if they are good reviews. If the patch leaves a mess in its wake the series is toast.

it has to be good news that the sequel will merge with Clod.. that way Clod will get upgraded and this great theatre can live on in our simulation.

Regrading what needs fixing I see it from the complete opposite.. its the FMs that are the key to making CloD fun.. AA and other visual things can wait, these are superficial to the 'gameplay'. Anyway, no point discussing really.. there are many many important things the patch should cover, everyone has their own priority.

We still didn’t get to that task as our graphic programmers still have a pile of even higher priority issues to cover. So, not in the next patch."
So I have to buy a sequel I am not interested in, in order to get AA. That is a pathetic joke.

If you have an Nvidia card, customise the settings for launcher.exe. Enable FXAA and add 16x CSAA, with 'override application settings' and 'multisample' set.

No Jaggies.

There's probably some AMD/ATI equivalent available too.

Sorry for OT Uther.

Tried that. Doesn't get rid of the jaggies or shimmering for me. I should not have to buy a sequel to get bug fixes that is just wrong.

Oh it was a pleasure to help. Please think nothing of it. Don't mention it. I'm certain you didn't set the configuration wrongly.

AA is not a bug fix. The situation regarding AA has been explained. If you'd rather criticize the company than use a well tried solution, fine.

I did exactly what you said as have many others and AA is not working. AA has been admitted by the devs as not working and will be implemented at a future time. Thanks for trying but it just doesn't work. If you want to post screenies of exactly how you have it set I will try again. The landscape shimmers like crazy and the planes are all jaggy even at high res. Its ridiculous they cannot fix this. It may not be a bug, but it sure is not something a customer should have to pay extra for. If all the bugs are erased in the next patch ok. But if bug fixes like flickering shadows and shimmering graphics remain, it is a disgrace to try and force customers to pay extra for fixes to a broken game. At a minimum they should provide standalone bug fix patches for those who do not want extra content.

The way I read the latest from Luthier is the next shoe to drop will be the sequel AND THEN AND ONLY THEN will a final patch be released for CLoD...maybe.

If this is the case then exactly how do you install a "finished" sequel over an incomplete game that may or may not receive a last, final patch?

Your probably reading it wrong, its most peoples understanding that there will be a Release Candidate patch for COD relatively soon. The Sequel is still very long way away as the alpha isn't going to be completed until 2013. I'm a little surprised they will have funding for that long. Either way it would be easy for the developers to overwrite whatever they want to overwrite when you merge COD with the Sequel.
