The original post didnt mention anything about pollution which is proberbly why the maths discussion started.

Interesting no doubt. When I first saw the thread's title I pictured the sphere being a lot bigger than that. It makes me wonder how big of a sphere/compressed to sea level pressure bubble, the Earth's atmosphere would make.
