I'd be interested to see what a burning bomber looks like? I see lots of smoking debris, but what happens when an engine becomes a 'smoker'?

Looks great so-far and something that I wish had been there from day one

Cheers, MP

So, what is the frame rate hit, really?

I cannot believe that with that much partical effect being rendered all over that it is not seriously degrading frame rates.

You could see it in the P-38 sequence.

Too much smoke frome the ship stacks as well, those are not coal burners.

I think there will be a bit of a hit but I think the penalty can be made quite small. Still a lot of simple bitmaps being manipulated in some very clever ways.

I don't alway like to be the skeptic, honestly.

Those effects are very, very, nice, be sure.

It's just that I've been "had" before with this or that effects or texture mod.

I really hope it works, but I also hope there will be a switch to have standard effects if it doesn't.

A switch would be great for sure. No idea if that's possible.

I know the TD guys and the focus is definitely on the high quality. If there is a FPS impact (and it'd be surprising if there weren't)... I imagine it will be relatively small.

What kind of system are you working with? Unless it's minimum spec I think it'll be quite alright. I hope so anyways.

I'm running the game on a small laptop with integrated Intel HD Graphics and run the game at 30 fps to 50 fps. I think with these effects I will drop to 25-45 fps... These effects are low fps drop.

I don't know if it is possible but it could also be a new line in the conf.ini file, or more conveniently, a new line in the game video option setup, i mean something similar to what we have for clouds, landscape, object and visibility.
