In defense of War Thunder, it's meant to be played on a wide variety of different rigs, not a handful of monster rigs. I bet it will even perform well on very modest systems. CoD did it the other way around, started out with high-spec demands but are now forced to scale back to dx9. It's all about reaching as many players as possible, not as few as possible.
