Thats pretty cool, but I'm waiting for this technology to mature! (next 10 years or so maybe?)
http://www.abc.net.au/science/articl...e&topic=latest You would probably need some sort of motion tracking to workout where your looking! (TrackIR 8!!!!!) |

This has been around for a while.Rather expensive though.

I'm not sold on the jDome. Using fabric as the screen surface lends its self to a very fuzzy image, great for FPS but for those who have a hard time seeing dots in the distance forget it.
The best solution for this sim, and BoB for that matter, would be multi monitors. |

Where did you read he's using a fabric for the screen? I didn't notice that. It looked like a plastic foil to me, which of course would not have the negative effect on the image.

the jdome looks promising, but not sure how they can create accurate pixel size/geometry and image focus on the outer part of the dome with the projector placed behind it.
any development that increases display size is good news, time will tell if the video quality is good enough. a multi monitor type of setup is probably the most viable alternative for most of us right now. ![]() http://www.maxconsole.net/?mode=news&newsid=23996 Last edited by zapatista; 05-12-2008 at 01:34 PM. |

Instead I would prefer thinks like the jDome because it looks very similar to those Air Force bubble simulators(this means 360° on horizontal and vertical axes and no need of trackIR like gears!).They can use those new OLED Flexible Screens(not retro-projected!!!) at this purpose, for smaller bubble home systems.Naturally in 5-10 years!!! this is a demo from Sony |
