I'm sorry I find it very hard to believe that this card is as good as 3 x 580's. Nvidia have never released a new card that was more than 25 to 30 percent better than a single previous model card. If this card lived up to the hipe/media dribble been bantered around no one would buy a ATI card ever again. IMO

Dunno where ya hear that, but the card is not much more than an update as the 7xxx serie is. It is on a new architecture and has the power of 2x6950.
Here a few benchmarks and graphs you can discuss about. Due the hot, hotter, the hottest promises Nvidea did again for the Kepler (6xx) before release (as with the Thermi...eh Fermi), I expected a far superior card to the Thahiti (7xxx), but well , I guess I will stay for my plans on investing into ATI.At high resolutions is absolutely cranks down, and tesselation doesnt seem to be its advantage. For sure it needs a few driver optimisations, but this cant be the excuse for an end resulkt, that doesnt equals Nvideas offisial announcements ... again. I guess I will have the possibility to test 2 x 680 vs 2 x 7950 coming week at work. source |

Nice to see that Nvidia has some tricks up their sleeve still. AMD has been dominating the Price/Performance spot for so long they've been getting complacent. With new generations of "super cards" that means that todays affordable cards can only get cheaper.
Nice to see that the GPU market is still competitive, unlike the CPU market. |

I am pretty sure we will see a bigger singel GPU model (GK110?) coming out during the summer og fall with a dual gpu after that.
Secondly, there are cards with custom coolers, pre-OC'ed and more v-ram inbound. It just takes a few months before they show up as always ![]() If anyone wants a new card and is not an impatient idiot like me, should wait for the GK110 or the newer revisions with even better coolers and such ![]() The GTX680 looks to be an awesome card but i firmly believe that Nvidia has a really mean bastard hiding out there.

S!
I just wish I could do the jump to Ivy Bridge and X79 chipset..I bet my GPU is more than adequate for my needs for now. Will re-evaluate later on after initial release honeymoon of 680GTX is over ![]() ![]() |
