its true about the audio the higher-end audio such as HD and full acceleration have a problem. Since the new update for Creative Sound Blaster HD extreme F1 I haven't had a crash since that recent update. If your running a Creative lab sound system use this settings.
Make sure to turn acceleration down from full to standared. its either in DX mode start run dxdiag, {tab} sound, or you can find it in the setting sound under speaker settings advanced performance {tab} hardware acceleration.

I will try the sound now, checked memory and all seems ok there. Again thank you very much for all the suggestions, I will continue flying missions and keep you posted if blue screen issue resolved. I wonder how you ever know, sometimes I will fly 10 hours then have a random blue screen.

uninstalled the European copy of il-2 1946 and bought a new US version and installed and have been flying off and online for about 20 hours( 1 week) with no blue screen issues ( knock on wood !! ). My frame rates went from 40-55 ( European copy ) to 65-90 ( US copy ), game in perfct mode and patched to 4.09 again using an 8800gt (512).
Thanks again for all your help---I'll keep in touch, great forum--- cheers--rclark-- |

Have a look here: http://kadaitcha.cx/xp/stop_error.html
Sounds like a driver issue. "The system attempted to access pageable memory using a kernel process IRQL that was too high. Drivers that have used improper addresses typically cause this error." |

Worked on 2 computers with the same error.
First computer had the wrong voltage memory installed. MB called for 1.8 volts and memory needed 2.1 volts. Installing 1.9 volt memory fixed the problem. Second computer the ram sticks would come loose and all that had to be done was to reseat them. This got old so after an RMA on memory all was well. My bet also it is ram related and IL2 uses more ram then most other programs. MS has some tools to get to the bottom of this, but I have lost the links. I am sure if you google "minidump" you will find them. Which should be turned on to help you detect what is going on. This can be found under "System Properties", "Advanced", "Startup and Recovery" "Settings". Good Luck, it can be a pain. |
