Odd. With me it asks for the DVD (which it never did before), but runs quite happily if you stick that in the drive before running the program. Quite why we had to wait two months just so somebody could include copy protection (long after the initial sales run ended) that wasn't there before is as baffling as it is infuriating.

Getting pretty pissed off with the whole 'version' thing in relation to 1C. I also find myself with a version of 'Fantasy Wars' that apparently is incompatable with both versions of the map editor. There really is no need for this crap (unless it is intended to drive gamers from PCs to consoles!); developers and publishers need to put their heads together, actually accept some responsibility, and figure out a solution.

looks like some idiot has put copy protection that dont work with vista if yours is working with your dvd in drive. i know my disc is ok since it works fine if i dont install the patch. think ive said i dont like to whine or post pointless threats about not buying stuff again, but im getting bit fed up with this, when i brought the game in shop i thought it was proper release of the game since i remembered it being in a pc mag long long time ago and looked good. Next time ill be double checking.

I never 'upgraded' to Vista, so that certainly seems a possible explanation.
