You should be able to go higher (if you wish) - we were escorting Wellingtons at around 21K in Spits and Hurri's (with another cover flight below us at 16K). Probably one of the best sorties I have had in a while.

I don't know why your Hurri developed a fault but its seems less reliable than the Spit for some reason.
