Like tree said...he's just being mule stubborn....
A kinder and gentler approach would/should have started with IMHO...
Then all would be well and good....

All of this, of course, being said...while waving the olive branch towards my fellow miscreants....

Q: Let’s go back to BoB maps once again. This is a very exciting topic. How will they be different from Il-2 maps?

A: First of all, they will be more detailed. This means all sorts of small details you will notice in flight, with terrain, buildings, roads, etc. Not exactly on topic of maps, but we’ll also have moving grass. Secondly, we will have dynamic weather. This is actually on topic of maps. Even though the weather is handled by a separate weather module, it’ll be tied into the gameplay maps and affected by topography. Thirdly, we’ll have more detailed coastlines. We’ll now have cliffs, not just flat painted textures, but with real elevation. Next, our roads will have smooth curves of various profiles, which will immediately make the terrain look more realistic. In conjunction with new photorealistic textures, new technologies, new light and shading, all of the above will work together to create something that from the air looks really, really close to reality.

How about a DCG that was mentioned but didn't make the cut?

Q: Virtually all flight sim fans graduate to online modes after first flying offline campaigns and earning their triple HSUs or Oak Leaves. This will probably be the case with BoB as well. So, how different will offline campaigns be in BoB compared to Il-2?

A: I’ll answer briefly for now:

1. An entire new dynamic campaign engine, often with unpredictable results and random elements. So far this still needs lots of testing and fine-tuning.

it doesn't necessarily say it would be part of the release, way I see it if all these things end up in the game eventually then no promises were ever broken......or is that just too obvious?

How about this one?

"• New 3D engine – Latest-gen graphics engine with DX10 and DX11 API support. Huge variety of photorealistic ground vehicles, buildings and other environmental elements recreate minute details of 1940s Europe."

I have never whined about Cliffs, but this looks like a fun chalenge

I got it from the official press release (here)

TBH the whole fanboi/whiner thing is getting old. All we have here is an example of how different people deal with disappointment.

Personally, I've spent more money on much worse games than Cliffs of Dover, plenty of times. £50 quid for a console game that you can finish in a day, now that p's me off.

£30 for a game that has depth, potential, awesome subject matter, tight community (you know all the stuff thats good about Combat Flight Sims) isn't a lot. Of course it's flawed, but I can't judge CLoD to the same standard as CoD.. I'm happy to wait this out, give the developers some more time (we waited 6 years, what's another 2?) and hope that it get's better.

For now, I'm kind of just happy it exists... Somebody at some point will fix it.
Patience.

Actully this was covered a few weeks back

CoD does have DX10 and DX11 API support.

The very difinition of DX11 API support is the ability to sellect different 'feature levels' as in DX9, DX10 and DX11.

On that note, you can set CoD to use the DX11 featrue levels, which I have done, but I would not recomend it, in that when I used the DX11 feature level the grass looked pretty bad IMHO, but try it you might like it. You can change it to DX11 via the conf.ini

I think it should be noted however in the first posting that all of these "promised but not recieved" items could be reimplemented in an upcoming patch. Otherwise this whole thread just seems to have a negative feeling against the game to me. Newcomers could be drawn away by thinking that these things will never happen, and that is most certainly not 100% true.

I see from the OP's join date he probably missed all the weekly updates and promises we used to get, and he is too stupid / lazy / ignorant / whatever to use the search function.

As for why a lot of paying customers (lets call a spade a spade eh ) are not replying, they probably have him on 'ignore'...

Still, points for the good troll OP, you got a quick 6 pages of dross out of it, and probably scared a few new customers away...

This thread is just a negative rant, disguised as some kind of meaningful feedback. The thread is close.
