The mix option on RAf fighters is totally pointless. Just use whatever it run best at, with various patches this has changed so often forward/back/rich/lean really has no meaning.
In reality lever back should be rich and used for takeoff/landing/combat (except high altitude which is irrelivant because the fighter dont achieve true ceiling). Its all just symptamatic really of the lack of attention the devs have applied to the RAF planes in general. The spit 1a has the wrong prop and I swear they have got the top speed mixed up between KPH and MPH. Its total rubbish that the Hurricane rotol outperforms the spit 1a in climb and top speed and after how many patches this hasnt been corrected. The furore about the MkII outperforming the 109, yet the 109 outperforms the 1a by an even greater margin. If the Mk1 spitfire had in real life performed as bad as it does in CloD Supermarine would never have got that initial order for 300 of them. Anyone for a flyable gloucester gladiator ? |

Here are the relevant excepts from the Hurricane I Pilots notes in relation to mixtue:
![]() ![]() The Spitfire is in the same boat. Auto lean is only used (with Boost and RPM limitations) for cruising flight. |

People keep posting real life figures for aircraft performance and operations, These are irrelivant, This game isnt real life, we dont have to prime the engine or even switch on magnetoes, 3600 rpm even momentarily is a dream, in game your merlin will blow well before these heady heights are achieve.
How many times has THAT GRAPH been posted ? You know the one with relative top speeds and climb rates for the Spit (with +12 boost) and the 109 . Look at Blackdogs superb posts about the blenheim operating limits, procedures and performance, what relevance do they have about the Blenheim performance in game ? CloD is a game NOT a simulation, anyone who believes otherwise is deluding themselves. |

You might hve to try the old and rusty look (very British indeed [JokeMode = OFF]) You seems not to understand that it seems as they are trying to do things ... carefully and good. @IvanK = thx for the doc I'll give a try to the pilots notes recommendations. Calm down guys, the guy simply asked a question about how mixture works, not what went wrong with CoD development
To answer in short: Mixture controls are semi-automatic in the spitfire (auto rich and auto lean, not full rich/lean but automatically maintaining the best rich or lean ratio), with rich being levers back and lean levers forward. The should be the same in the Hurricane, but it seems they are manual (full leaning over the entire course of the lever's movement range). They are correct in the Blenheim, the levers move throughout the entire range (like the Hurricane) but in truth anything lower than 50% is auto rich and anything higher is auto lean. This corresponds to the manual for the aircraft and it was that way in reality. |

Devs are aware of the issues in All the FM's. And as to posting real world stuff well thats the same data the devs are/will be using to sort the FM's. Yes its a bummer that the FM's are not up to scratch at the moment but down the track they will be.

Thanks fellas.
On another issue, anyone know why the 109 starts shaking like the bejezus after a few moments level flight? what am I doing wrong? |

Ah, I figured the vibration was because I had my rads open. I'm obviously just flying too fast!
