Hi.
The aircraft skin is scattered in many small parts. I made a panel-finder.jpg, which, if you put in the game, and the program, it is much easier to find them. Like this: Panel finder on the 109

I cant recommend Tom's panel finder high enough, it will make your life much easier, give it try.

Thanks tom, I'm a little rusty, can't seem to get the panel finder over the aircraft skin, I try color to alpha, rgb, copy visible layer, past as new layer, merge visible layer but all I get left is the panel finder, I'm sure I'm doing it wrong, I found some old vids for using gimp with IL2 1946 but I'm struggling here, wish there was a tutorial in the sticky here, video would be great, any help? I saw some really nice skins on the servers the other night, I want a custom skin too. thanks, Jay

Let me thank you, as well, for the panel overlay.

I had to use a patterned one before, which, as you might suspect, was of limited use.

This should make finding those pesky bits a bit easier.

OK, I'm using GIMP, and am also having trouble using this panel finder.
Any detailed instructions from another GIMP user?
EDIT: And will this actually make the panel lines show up in GIMP? That's what I really need. Otherwise lining up markings is damn near impossible!

well I'v been playing around and watching some videos and I figured out how to get the panel finder overlayed on an aircraft skin but the letters and numbers are unreadable, any tips for clearing them up?


here's what I did to get the panel finder over ac skin in gimp: first open gimp, open ac skin, open panel finder as new layer, color to alpha, save, but like I said it's unreadable

Instructions? Which number you see on the airplane, you find the same number in the Gimp layer. I don't know what else should say... What is your problem exactly?

Panel lines? No, these are just numbers. As you can see in the jpg . If you need panel line, download it from here:

Hi. Use the black and white picture and set the layer properties to multiply (Photoshop). If you are using GIMP, then I think the same type is the "multiplication" layer (using this word in the Hungarian version).
