I thought that would amuse you folks.Some of the lines are outstanding and although I'm not keen on this "Newspeak" well it just sounds so hilarious in this
context.Especially with the "upercrust, plummy" accents,those Brylcream boys in the RAF apparently had in those days. |

Great stuff.
(But the comedy comes from the contrast between the 1940's upper (officer) class accent and the 2000's "street vernacular" words and sentences (lexis and syntax) they actually use. So, yep, it's funny, but your (British) English needs to be pretty good to get all the jokes and all the allusions...) So both of them are basically (!) talking as if they were contemporary teenagers, but with the accent and (mostly) lexis of 40's (601) fighter pilots...
