Actually if the Spitfire have a slighter higher ceiling than the 109 it's not so bad.

Only managed 7000m of altitude in the 109 before it becomes unstable and wants to fall. Anyone else have any results?

7800m in the Bf 109E3, 7500m normal climb, last 300m climb ver very slowly, nearly 10minutes,then pressure was under 0.5 ATA

Regarding the original question:
hmm I just did a quick google search, so my knowledge isn't really in-depth, but: Shouldn't it be that way, at least for spit vs. 109? |

|
Depends on many things but generally speaking, the Spit had a better climb rate but the 109 had a steeper climb angle.
In simple terms the Spit will climb faster, but it won't be able to pull the nose so far up and hang on its prop so long the way the 109 can. |
