Can't launch the game

By the way, I've installed Visual Studio 2008 recently and I think I got the problem after that...

Doesnt it seem to you that your launcher is trying to launch the wrong game version ?

Same thing happened to me after I installed Visual Studio 2010 Express... long story short, ran the dotnet verfication tool (link below) and dotnet 4 failed so, un-installed Visual Studio & dotnet 4, re-installed dotnet 4, ran the dotnet verification tool (passed).

Another point worth considering is to make sure that your OS is up to date as far as service packs go etc....mine wasn't

I am able to play the game for a few minutes and then I get a launcher error. What I am wondering is since so many people are having the same issues, has there been any official recognition of the problem from 1C?

Thank you Goanna. I feel we're close from the solution.

I uninstalled VS2008 and .NET 4.0. I reinstalled .NET 4.0 but still have a "product verification failed" with the tool you linked.

I have this message in the log :

[04/26/11,14:20:02] Install state for .NET Framework 4 Client: installed with no service packs.
[04/26/11,14:20:02] Install state for .NET Framework 4 Full: installed with no service packs.

As you said, you updated your OS to have those service packs. The problem is that mine is up to date. I just checked Windows update and there are no service packs updates...

I just checked my updates historic and some updates failed at installation...

Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2443685)
Windows 7 Service Pack 1 for x64-based Systems (KB976932)
Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2443685)
Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2419640)

Some of these updates were installed later but anywat, I still got the error message ".NET Framework 4 Full: installed with no service packs. "

There must be a missing update but which one and how can I install it since Windows update says my OS is up to date

Run the verification tool again and select the .Net 4 Client option, if I remember correctly the very last line of the output text tells wether it has passed or not... mine said it was missing some dll's in the lines above but the bottom line said it passed.

When I reinstalled .net 4 I used the redistributable that came with COD (the client version)... found it in ....Steam\steamapps\common\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover\redist\DotNetFx40_Client folder.
