Bomber gunners here too, though I don't think they're immortal, just super-athletes who can shoot from the hip when they should barely be able to breath.
Sounds have never bothered me, at least they're consistent, if somewhat boring. Better rendering of distant objects and scaling for higher resolutions should be a given. AI I don't care about, it will always be predictable and flawed.
