Front lines also come into play, as well as add some dramatic effects. If you manage to get back to friendly territory before bailing out, you will get more points (50%, I think) as opposed to bailing out over enemy territory (10%, I think).

In my experience, you get scores every time you get the "Enemy aircraft: Destroyed", or "Enemy Tank: Destroyed", etc. message on the right of my screen. Sometimes this messsage doesn't show up, even if it's clear that i got the kill (doesn't happen with ground kills).
Someone with more experience in this area maybe could explain that part. There's also the fact that if your sortie lasts less than the "victim's" sortie, then you don't get the kill (this only applies to situations where the bogey escapes badly damaged and crashes on landing attempt for example). A healthy recommendation... don't mind much about the online scores |

Flak can "steal" the kill if they hit it at all. I guess the idea is is that if you (and your online buddies) aren't responsible for ALL the damage leading to the downing of the enemy, you don't deserve ANY points.

Though the warbirds of prey servers have an option which counts how many air assists you have made, I guess that information has to come from IL2 somehow, but not integrated in the scoring system.
