he thinks because of his experience is that you have a pirated copy of IL2.

Exactly the same thing is happening to me and I cabn guarantee you that I own a legitimate purchased copy. I'm installing over 4.09 and the files unzip then the installation bar gets to about 80% and the installer just vanishes. Starting the application reports it is still 4.09.
Anyone else having this problem please?

Thumbs up

Thankyou TD for all your hard work.

It is very much appreciated, and an unexpected bonus Xmas present.

Noticed the special functioning of the sliding windows in the Hs 129, pretty neat. It seems that depending on which way you are looking, either the left or right window opens.

That sounds much like a broken file. Did you try to re-download?

You know, you can extract the files (by the installer) to any folder you want to, and copy the files from there to your game folder later.
So you maybe can see, if the installer work at all or how big extracted files are.
Just as a hint.

Ah ... I'll be accepting today's 'Moron of the Day' award ...
Thanks VERY much EJGr.Ost_Caspar for your advice. It led me to the real solution because it made me check out where my files ACTUALLY are.
The 4.10 installer was defaulting to my C: drive (the standard installation path for IL-2 46) but I'd actually installed the app on my D: drive (I have a small SSD as my C: drive so I was saving space on it, my D: is a Velociraptor). It's been so long since I did the installation that I forgot! My sincere apologies for wasting your time. Suffice it to say all is now well and I have a fully operational 4.10 version of IL-2.
Sincere thanks to yourself and Team Daidalos for continuing to develop and support this amazing application that I've been using since the beginning so many years ago!

What it says, a replacement of the F-2's MG151/15 with the MG151/20 cannon.

Correct. There're a lot of tiny snippets of information around that upgrading the F-2 to the MG 151/20 was done on a great scale without any official documentation. For example the very first F-2 the RAF captured (F-2 of I./JG 26 in early 1941) already had the 15mm MG 151 replaced by the 20mm MG 151/20. Also known is a report of a F-2 which was used to test the RZ-65 rocket installation which is also listed as having a 20mm cannon.
The technical differences between MG 151 and MG 151/20 are very small and exchanging the vital parts could be done in short time (i.e. during one of the regular engine checks). Initially it seems as if that depended a bit on the pilot (someone "important" would get the parts easier and faster than a nameless pilot) while later it seems to have been a broadly used modification, especially on refurbished aircraft (such as those given to JG 51 in mid-1942).
