in germany you can get 8 gig of ddr3 ram for under 100 euro. this is pc gaming. its the platform that pushes technology. if your tight on money i would recommend a console or stick to il2. since flightsimming is a hardware intensive genre i dont see any sense in adjusting a new title to an audience that is too tight upgrading their computers once in a while. even with 4 gigs im sure you can run this pretty well. and if not on maximum settings well then im sure there will be options.

Yeah, like we're scared of the ram requirements.

I'll need a new GPU (or two), plus I'm not sure what an OC 955 can do...

So we're talking about 1k rather than 100.

What I really don't like of what I've seen so far ist that the pilot figures have no shadow.

It's looking great, I love the bit of video of the Su-26, but....

I just wish I could see one shot, one short clip, of bad weather.

Of any weather, come to think of it, besides the brightest of summer's days and the fluffiest of cotton wool clouds.

I think we've seen a single picture of something approaching an overcast (with a Wellington) but then the same thing from a different angle revealed the cloud coverage to be very limited.

If it's there, someone, anyone, please show it! Weather played a HUGE role in 1940.

Awesome videos and screenshots; this is enough for 10 Friday updates IMHO.
It's great to see everything pieced together, and the fact that the game can even run on such a system with adequate fps over water is excellent IMO (and with max graphics...)

There's nothing more to say, really; I'm in awe. This is finally tangible (although maybe Mystipuma thought that in 2006?)

If it came out then it couldn't look like this though. Just think of what the movie makers and skinners can do with this beauty. After all the best movie makers and skinners all fly IL-2....let's face it.

Yup. No upgrade for me. I have an i7 920 (not OC'ed) with 3GB of RAM and an Ati 4890 1GB running winXP 32bit. Actually, the 3GB i got because i didn't want to touch Vista with a 10-foot pole back when i bought it, so i had to stay under the 4GB limit. Also, it made sense due to the i7's/mobo tripple channel feature, so i got 3 sticks of 1GB each.

It's not the best gaming PC out there but judging from the PCs they were running on the show, i guess it has the "oomph" to do the job.

The 4890 does DX10 and as i doubt tesselation will factor in heavily for now, i don't care about getting a DX11 card yet. A few months ago i have also installed win7 64bit on a second disk so i'm good to go. In fact if i get anything at all, it will probably be an extra 3GB of RAM and that will be it for some time.

True. We don't know how the monitors are calibrated (if they are calibrated at all) and this image is then fed through crappy phone cameras sporting a tiny lens, or a proper videocamera to which we still don't know the specs and how they affect further distortion of the image.

The only way to know how it will look on our PCs is have someone FRAPS it at full detail and send us the .avi to play back on our own screen. Chill out people
