To me it looks as though the grass cut off is the mown runway. Beyond the flat strip grass texture appears again to a level consistant with the greater distance. Everything else is just amazing too. The video shows the game will be so much more natural and lifelike. Even the English accent is perfect for a lot of the people who were officers back then. Constructive critisism is great but I sort of wish people would remember it is a sim played on computers that have limited abilities that even Oleg can't overcome.

Nothing wrong with that, but it's all about programming.
Computers have permanently developed better and better since the last 9 years. But SoW BoB doensn't look like 9 years better than IL-2.
Anyway, I can't wait to get my hands on that before christmas.
