If I didn't have a choice between something Russian, I would choose the Hummel.
Its not a option to choose on this poll, but the Hummel is good, turretless, and can take out almost any type of fortification and armor. Its got armor, tracks, and a good gun. However, it hogs fuel and has a slow reload time. It also has only 18 rounds of 152mm shells. Its cannon is a sFH 18. The sFH18 has more ammo, but it just isn't mobile enough. I prefer to fire a round, and get out quick. I was messing around today, and when I went to try out the German artillery, I compared the Hummel and the sFH18. The sFH18 artillery piece has more ammo, but isn't mobile enough. It is best fit for defense. I'm a guy who strictly believes that to defend one must offend. So, I prefer the Hummel. Mobile, has a machine gun in the front hull, 152mm HE round. Enough to crush armor in. The Hummel is just good. Last edited by Korsakov829; 03-02-2010 at 01:53 PM. |

![]() My favorite vehicle is the Jagdpanzer IV. Excellent gun (same as the Panther) which is capable of knocking out any enemy vehicle it encounters, low profile and good frontal armor and much cheaper to get than for example, the much more popular Jagdpanther. Just too bad that the STuG III Ausf. G ain´t included in the game, then my answer would have been a different one. ~Zeke. |

The Hummel doesn't have one in game, but in real life I'm sure it did. Unless of course the MG was only part of a modification.
It is a turretless tank, and should be up here like the Isu-152. They are both self-propelled artillery, but at the same time turretless. |

No, the Hummel did not have a front machine gun, however, later versions did have provision to mount one or two machine guns, located one on each side fighting compartment. These machine guns aren´t commonly seen in pictures, probably due to the fact that the Hummel is a rear-line SP howitzer and not an assault gun (unlike the Russian ISU152).

Korsakov you have gotten it all wrong. Reason why theres no Hummel, priests, Ho-Ros etc is becaue they are classed as Self-propelled artillery.
Not turretless tank(even tho they had no turret). ISU-152s and Hummels got completly different tasks. Hummels work basically like a standard artillery peice, but its mobile and got some limited protection. And they are used far back for artillery support. ISU-152s on the other hand are more a unit that can do everything. Tank destroyer, support fire for the troops and indirect support fire like an artillery. Even if it could be used as an artillery. But that wasn't its original design. |

I see your point.
Still, Hummel is pretty good. |
