Lightbulb Will Variable Wind Direction and Strength be Moddelled in Sow?

Hi all,

This topic is perhaps not exciting to many combat simmers but was very important to WW2 aircrew

In il2, wind is not modelled. Yes, we have 'storm wind' but in all other settings, wind is not modelled.

Wind strength and direction is a vital factor in navigation. And these factors vary in flight.

In il2, you can set a heading toward your target or base and will always arrive overhead. In real life this would not happen unless the weather was totally calm.

I am of course talking about Dead Reckoning Navigation basics.

A pilot or navigator in WW2 would be given the anticipated wind strength and direction before take off to make his heading calculations. And in flight, he would have to apply the effects of the change in wind strength and direction to his heading.

Will the wind strength and direction be a factor in SoW?

Sorry if this has been asked before.

(And I spelt 'Modelled' in my header wrongly...the shame!).

Best Regards,
MB_Avro.
