Cannot not activate game

After purchasing cod from steam at initial realease i have not as yet been able to play cod due to game crashing to desktop. It seems that game loads ok but when i hit the play mission button it all crashhes except for sound?No response from steam as yet and i have latest patch any ideas is my system up to spec?
