Just a thought.
That is sometimes true though definitely not always. A better way of putting it is:

Making the best of a bad job.

ok, i did only start to fly 2 years ago, and only bought 1946 to prepare myself for storm of war(best 5euros invested in my life).
i only tried the coop mode once with a friend and really liked it.
but i dont quite see the absolute need for this mode.dont get me wrong, im all for options, and i think it should be there if it was so successfull in clod's predecessor.
but my squadmates and me, dont have a problem to make a "coop" mission in the lobby for example.i know its different from the old style coop mode, but personally, i like to take off together and even prefer it to an air start.everybody can log into the lobby, and when everybody is ready to fly, the host starts the mission.

besides, with Banks coop script, you will have exactly what you had in 1946 i think...tried it a few times and it works perfectly.

but this thread is senseless anyway, as the devs mentioned now many times, that this feature will never be implemented in clod like so many others.

So basically, we'll have the same kind of organization that you see in a game like WoT (none). If you didn't get the memo, or the comms channel, you're s.o.l. Il2:COD has taken a large step backwards when it comes to trying to organize a mission like the axis or allied forces might have set up back in the day it seems.

Sounds more like IL2:BOS (battle of the straglers)

In part I agree but enjoying a game for me is not only about content but about accessibility. Co-ops are just not accessible if you want to run a few co-ops in relatively quick succession.

Maybe this thread is senseless, maybe not. It may help convince the developers that a better method of arranging a co-op (by a browser or by direct IP) should be provided in whatever is to come.

If your squadmates do not mind could you please share your missions in a separate thread with a brief description on how to fly them. I hope this will show more people how to enjoy the new way of coop flying.

PS. I do think that old-style coop had to be in game and 1C made a major marketing mistake not including it. But on the other hand text-based HyperLobby was a must 10 years ago but now in the times of 100% broad-band Internet, 100% Skype and TeamSpeak usage it is not required to cooperate if you really like too. This is more realistic too.

Hey

I'm flying in the same group as Marmusman.

As a group, we work hard to achieve the best results for our group. Some of these results we want to share as we as other like we keep something for ourselves as a group, like ATAG has its scripts and missions, they keep to themselves and makes them unique server hosts and group.
We therefore do not wish to upload our missions, and Marmusman will not upload our missions. If this policy change, our CO will upload the missions.

But we are happy to share our method to how you can put a mission up so its allmost like an old coop multiplayer mission. This way you get a mission where everyone starts at the same time and you can fly the mission as one group. This method can be used for all dogfight mission you want to fly like a coop.

The first thing we do is go into our own briefing room we have made.

We review the mission in advance as done in reality. Scrample none of course.

Information about the weather, our loadout missiontybe, goals, known danger and sometimes a recon photo, if available.

We draws our route and plan on a map.

Then we go into the server. The mission is taken from the multiplayer / dogfight. The mission is made as a dogfight server.

When all is entered, press Plane and then choose our aircraft. loadout and fuel. Press ok until you are back yo the screen "Waiting for battle. Report "waiting for Battle" to the host

When all is rdy Host press "Start Battle."

Now you select choosing flag and base.

After that you can immediately press create on you preselected aricraft.

If more that one aircraft are available, quick go in and select the right one. Now you dont have to setup loadout - You did that before missions started.

We should now all be on our airbase. Start up and taxi to start.

Have fun

Cheers

To be quite honest. I have more pleasure to this method, rather than the old style As a group. It is more realistic for us and you never know what what to expect on your way out there.

The start up and taxi out, is also a welcome part. That makes it more real for all of us. And if your tail caught in a shed, or something unexpected happens, you can of course create a new aircraft and we do not have to restart the mission. But when airborne and you are on your way, you do not respawn no matter what happens. This way is more dynamic and realistic for us as a group.

But if you want to host a coop like the old days with players who do not know each other in advance like in HL so this method is not good enough. It requires that you have a group who already know each other and everyone knows what to do. For this we lack the old method, where all overwhelms a slot and press ok and all spawn at the same time. So I do hope they will ad that cind of stuf in the future so we are able to fly some cind of coop with others in future and bring community closer together and meet others. We do the course fly at ATAG´s servers and having huge fun. So a big thanks to ATAG for doing this. The only disadvance is, it's a little harder to organize a major sortie. It is usually the 3 to 4 on average. I know it can be done, but as I said, its a bit harder.

Cheers
