Before these recent patches I did NOT have this problem. It seems like just when things are working another patch comes around to screw everything up for me performance-wise.

It's almost like there's a memory leak. Anyone else having this issue? It makes the game completely unplayable for me. I could reinstall but I don't have a very fast internet connection and redownloading the game could take a very long time.

I'll also put this in a thread in the Technical Problems forum.

My relevant specs:

Windows 7 Ultimate
Intel i7 930 2.8 ghz (stock clock) quad-core
Geforce GTX 260 896 MB (overclocked to 675 ghz)
Rosewill 600W PSU
1 TB HD
6 GB ADATA DDR3 RAM
Atros posted this earlier;
"btw. Check that you do not have vsync ON in both game and drivers. It should be switched on only in one place. This mistake of mine killed performance for me as soon as they introduced fullscreen.

Triple buffering should be forced ON with a 3rd party utility if you use vsync or your fps would jump from 15 to 30 fps and back very often"

But what is weird, i have it orginal setting with beta patch but after latest official patch my london stutters like hell, but now i lowered it high and it's smooth again.

The result is worth it
confuser.ini is just key mappings - pretty sure this would be safe to leave as the old version. Definitely worth trying to update the other .ini files though.

Some odd stuff here. I installed Cat 11.5 as per the hotpatch instructions, even uninstalled and redownloaded a fresh game install from steam - all fine. Quick play about in the game, everything as it was, no problems. Go to CCC to enable Xfire to see if it works... and it's already on!

Default of course after a new driver install (I forgot all about that), but wow, crossfire worked! Went back in, tried a level - almost smooth, nearly all the stutter gone. Brilliant! Remarked to my mate about over steam as he was testing the patch too.. loaded another level...

bang, massive performance drop. After some testing, it seems that the first quick level I load post patch with xfire enabled gets decent xfire performance (stable 30-45, almost no stutter, prefs a notch or two higher than normal). The next, and any subsequent levels I load then revert to the traditional crossfire result: fps spiking from 5-20 average, massive stutters and loading pauses etc. Quit out of the game completely, reload and the first level will get good performance again - until I load another level, when it all goes bad.

Anyone had similar?

Also new prop is nice! Thanks team.

The past two days have been glorious.
First, the official patch doubled the performance over London for me, but a sticking point was over industrial areas I was still getting single digit framerates.

This hotfix seems to have totally cured that up for me, and again the performance has more than doubled, and sometimes tripled or even quadrupled for me over this previous 'no fly zone.'
Kudos chaps.

I'm also really liking this new prop pitch method for the 109.

This might be a placebo effect, but I could swear at certain low rpms I could see the 109 prop more clearly than before.
It could be my imagination though...

All in all I couldn't be happier with the way things are developing.

Thats not a memory leak, a memory leak occurs when memory that is used by the game is not released when its no longer needed and you eventually run out of memory and boom..

Well because the game runs smooth for a few minutes then suddenly drops, it DOES feel like a memory leak, but much faster.

Yeah, i got similar problem, i go to crosscountry first, i got steady 60 fps with vsync, real smooth gameplay, then i load london sightseen, fly there sometime, go back to crosscountry again and i got below 40fps.

Today i lowered my texture quality from orginal to high and got smooth flight over london, so i dont yet tested how it works now because lowering textures give us more memory.

When i got 60fps i have really smooth gameplay, but when it goes about 40 its not so smooth, i mean its smooth but there is little rubberband efect what i dont see at 60fps.

I got ati 5970, single card but crossfire card.

btw, if you are start a mission on the ground with a 109, is your pitch also going automaticaly and unstopable to full coarse. And than you have to set it to full fine before start ? just beeing curious.
Yes, I have a similar problem with the PP. But it doesn't go to full coarse in my case, it stops in the 9:00 position.
