After reading through it, I'm thinking that I'd quite like to get involved in the strategy of side of the tournament (assuming I can get a high enough rank). However, some people will just want to turn up and fly, so maybe you could do a very brief set of rules for those players. Maybe something like this:

For the player’s who just want to fly and aren’t worried about ranks and strategy.

Basic rules of the tournament:- Most importantly, Please listen to you what your superior officers say. They will let you know when the matches are, what aircraft are to be used, and your role in the battle.
- Treat all other players with respect.
- Add Edal86 to your friends list, so that you can send him screenshots if necessary.
- Add as many other players (from both teams) as you can to our friends list
- There are 4 types of matches: Air superiority (Team deathmatch), Strategic Bombing (Strike), Capture territory (Capture the Airfield) and VIP escort (Bomber escort on strike mode). The type of match will be chosen by the ranking officers on each team.
- Before the match starts, make sure you have the correct aircraft and loadout, and then ready yourself (So the green tick is showing). The host will start the match only when every player has done this, and a screenshot has been taken.
- Edal86 and the Officers in each team will take care of screenshots and statistics.
- No ramming bombers
- No ramming aircraft that have landed
- No babysitting captured airfields. Once and airfield has been captured, take off and fight asap.
- Officers cannot use the I-153.
- Each flight has can have a maximum of 200 deaths. Once that limit is reached, all ranks in that flight are reset.

Special rule for Bomber pilots:
Bombers are allowed to “re-arm”, To do this you can land your aircraft on your teams side of the map and take a screenshot (via the XMB menu) with the map opened, and your speed, altitude and bomb load at zero. For coastal maps like Sicily and Britain, you are allowed to land anywhere.
Please send the screenshot to Edal86 so that he can adjust the stats accordingly.
*Any editing of screenshots will result in a 2 week suspension from the tournament

Open the XMB (Cross media bar) by pressing the PS button on the control pad, then scroll left till you see the camera. Under that menu there is an option to "save screenshot". You can attach those screenshots to private messages

first, I can't play sunday unless it's after 5 pacific time

I also doubt most or all of us will be ready to play for ranks today either. it would be better if we understood all the rules first... there are enough to make your head spin even if you're a native English speaker

I will have to re-read them to have a complete opinion but the first impression is it will work as long as people actually show up for the matches, and as long as there's no serious lag.

A few things that could be trouble:

) the i-153. Not that we mind having it.
) if sitting on an airfield is illegal, bombing the airfield should be also. Using a landed plane's MG is at least realistic and doesn't destroy the runway like bombs do. Drop 5 bombs on a runway and it's not a runway anymore.
) why only 1/3 bombers in strike missions? They're not so hard to kill.
) does a team have to win the war before they can get hangar E? Since both sides will buy the best possible hangar, they'd have to hold 4 territories for 3 weeks, or 3 for 5 weeks.
) strike mode is still pretty glitchy about when targets are actually destroyed. Also what about kamikazes in bomb missions?
) The rules will have to be translated into at least 2 other languages. If this starts in just a couple days, there will be a lot of people playing who don't know the rules, and will just jump into a furball as usual. Or who don't understand they can use an i-153 in that initial furball, or that they might face a whole team of i-153's.
) If the VIP is allowed an Arado, what do they even need an escort for? If a jet is crossing the map, it's gonna cross the map, there's no stopping it. Even an me-262 would get one head-on shot at most, after turning it would be too far behind to catch it in time. Though to get an Arado, I guess you have to win the war first to get hangar E
) 3 briefings a week... means 3 matches a week? That's impossible even in a 1 on 1 tournament.

Whoa... I think I'm going to need to print the rules and read them a few times. This stuff is pretty intense.

There will be a briefing (on this forum, or on the USSR forum) to explain what game type and aircraft type. Also, your officers might contact you by private message if they have time.

You only lose rank when your flight loses all 200 lives. You all lose your rank and start from the bottom again. Only rank is affected though.

Has this been tested with aviator control pad layout? Because you have to hold start for map and L2 to stay still. The number of times I've forgotten and just gone into the trees while not looking at the screen lol.

I don't know how this operates with the XMB too... maybe I'll try tonight...

Exactly my thoughts too, though I believe when you press start your throttle locks, many a match where I have to adjust sensitivity settings at the onset, I go full WEP, nose up a little then press start to change, the aircraft remains at full power even when I'm tinkering.

when you press ps button game pauses and leaves your other buttons as you were pressing them. then you can take your snapshot. it´s better to practice this before tournament.
