LOL, THREAD HIJACK!

But seriously, I can't stand fighting at night either, but I do love to fly with cloud cover. Adds a whole new battle plan, and it's better for the high altitude fighters, because people will usually fight above the clouds.

Agreed! Every battle without clouds descends to ground level after the first 10 seconds of a furball. I like hiding in them.

I came back to the thread and saw 3 pages of responses already, then saw topic had taken a detour of ermmm...a few hundred miles or so...

Problem is that it's too easy to lose someone in the clouds. This kind of rules out the need for skill to lose someone. You just dive for the clouds and you're off. I just think this is annoying.

P.S. lol @ Vulcan

so do I. The clouds in Il-2 1946 were fine. But these clouds are a solid cover, 50ft thick. a big cumulus cloud here and there is cool, but the 'cloud wall' is just annoying
(just to make it clear, im talking about the overcast-cloud-type)

Yeah I prefer to have the weather set at cloudy or whatever it's called. (Where it's just large cotton ball clouds, not the overcast.) It's fun flying through them because unlike the overcast, you have to at least try and turn quick or climb/dive so the chaser doesn't follow you.

Plus I like seeing puffy clouds here and there, floating by while I chase a FW or something?

Yeah, but considering everyone goes on about realism, how often does England have blue sky? Not very often. Unless the UK was a tropical paradise in the 1940s I'm sure they flew in clouds all the time.
