Can someone please identify under what statute (in your country) modding would be illegal.

Thanks.
Cracking is the illegal part.

Yep ... and being illegal it provides a very nice buffer against any crippling NG style litigation should any modder ever step on any big corporate toes ... "sorry your honor but we do not endorse that product its actually illegal they hacked our code" ...

Then you haven't been part of a PvP-community in an MMO Flightsim-communities have nothing on those.

I doubt very much if it's "illegal" anywhere. You could try and make a civil case for breach of copyright but that would involve trying to track down modders and sue them in a court in their own country. I very much doubt you'd find any law to extradite people over a civil matter!

Of course all this would cost millions and get you no-where but it would line a few more lawyers pockets!

alot of things are or were "illegal" it does not mean we should not do them....but i guess you are the type who would have turned in escaped slaves just cuz the law compelled you to do so...

Yes, because escaped slaves and cracking a piece of software has SO much in common...

Seriously? That's your comparison?

I was hoping for the creation of a tool set similar to the one's that the devs planned for us. I don't think that we should start creating planes, or messing with the ones we have. Just some tools for the map alteration, and to fix general game bugs.
