I still do the IL2 with MODs, and BOB II WOV. I run the COD occasionally, but my system just doesn't work well enough to enjoy it.

I would love for a final on COD, then I can scrap this not so current computer. As it is, I have delayed to upgrade my system while waiting... like so many others are doing.

The best AI performance has been achieved in the BOB II WOV. It lacks a current graphics environment and mission builder, but if you want an excellent flying experience it is the foremost AI achievement I've experienced.

You hit the nail on the head, because I enjoy the offline experience and misison building. Never cared much for a constant diet of furrballs.

Now maybe its not at the level of DCS or IL2 sims, but it certainly not as bad as you might think... alot of interesting features, some not listed here yet...
The items I mentioned that are needed... I need for my enjoyment of air combat sim.

I am not a gamer type player. I have CHproducts and other serious interfaces for doing the IL2 and BOB II WOV. A console type game will never interest me.

I will upgrade my system when I am confident the COD is viable for my expectations. The devs will get there, so in the meanwhile I do what I enjoy on my terms. I'm not going to whine and complain about my expectations for COD or any other air combat sim. I accept what is available and do with it as I can for best experience.

The Gaijin software has all been console gamer oriented or what some call arcade. WHen someone reviews a Gaijin and it focuses on a competent air combat experience then I will look into it.

I think they have taken some turns for the better when it comes to the sim crowd. As I said, they are not going for DCS/IL2 level Sim, BUT its better than you might think, if IL2 is sorted out before this game comes out I probably wont have alot of time for it, if IL2 is still struggling, I can see some hours spent here for sure... I wish I could say more but I cant

'Il2 Sturmovik - Birds of Prey' for consoles and later transported to PC as Wings of Prey. The interesting thing is that Gaigin developed their GFX engine and married it to Maddox Games Il2 reasonably well. 'Birds of Steel' for consoles was the next obvious choice given that the Pacific theatre was already part of the Il2 series.

I read that Oleg was very keen to see Il2 re-worked for a wider audience which probably explains why those two titles were dumbed down regards their FM and DM. Maybe not for me but best of luck to them!
