Do i need to complete "Heir to the throne" to continue on main quest?

Only sidequest i have left is Heir to the Throne. ( and its bugged )

Do i need to complete this in order to continue the game? If not, can anyone point me in the right direction. Have cleared out every single island so far in the game

What do you mean by bugged? I had to finish this quest , and when i saw your post i got a little scared. So i sailed to Fastland , found a chest on the water with a Odin's Flag in it. I returned to Riftland , showed the flag to the king and quest was done.

I cant return the flag, there's no option for it when talking to the king

restart with patch IIRC
