I have been playing online on the Syndicate server and have seen something unusual to me. Not sure if these guys were trying to slow down or what but this has been the second time that a Bf-109 has flown by me in a Spitfire with the gear down. Are they trying to slow down? Anybody out there using this as a tactic. Does it work without the gear being ripped off? Did they do this in real life? I have read 155 mph max for gear down on that plane so just curious. Thanks for any info. P.S. This was not at low altitude so they weren't landing.

I think this is one of 2 things. It's either a visual bug or people are simply forgetting about their landing gear.
Sometimes when I press the landing gear button on takeoff they go to "neutral" instead of "up" position, meaning it takes more than one key press to get them up. I'm wondering if that's happening to others as well. Hitting the button thinking their gear is up when it really isn't? |

If its a bug its happening alot, if its people forgeting to raise the gear, its not having a affect on their speed, so another bug that needs looking at.
Ive seen 109s racing past me at top speed with their gear half down.

At the beginning i forgot to raise gear too. Everytime i did my speed was messed, the gear broke and the plane started to shake like mad. Winger |

Yes, if you forget to raise it, you get the speed handicap. Im talking about a bug/feature where your gear drops half down during the mission/looks like its dropped during a mission, then you dont get the speed handicap.

According to another poster who tested this, this is a visual bug that probably occurs when a player sets his gear controls to neutral.
As to what neutral does, it stops the gear retraction motors/hydraulic pumps. If the control was left in the up or down position, the motor/pump would continue running even after the gear had locked into position, placing unnecessary strain on the system. I missed this initially, but then i decided to map separate up/down commands and stop using the toggle switch, in order to follow the historical procedure. There's no penalty yet for leaving the motors running but we could possibly expect some kind of failure (eg, over-pressure in the hydraulics resulting in a busted pipe and leak) as the DMs get further fleshed out, so i'm trying to pick up good habits and follow proper procedures early on ![]() |

It just mistake probably. They either forget to retract it or they try to retract it, but forget to check the lamps. Gear can't be deployed/retracted above certain speed, and if you try, it can get stuck until you slow down.
