phishing? huh? what are you talking about?
I came across this while looking FOR multi-core support for XP-SP3 which led me to HAL http://support.microsoft.com/kb/309283 which led me to posts by people using XP SP3 who upgraded there system but did not reinstall XP and because of this the OS was only see one core or did not have "multi-processor HAL" installed. I thought the same, as you didn't give any explanation at all and just posted a link

![]() One advice, though: XP doesn't support multi-threading, if that's the point. So performance gain with multiple CPU is very limited with 2 cores and more than 2 cores won't have a noteable impact at all. That has nothing to do with the programs you run. It's the OS. |

![]() For people running dual core XP systems might be better off upgrading to win7 home before upgrading there whole system. |
