flickering graphics

I have recently installed an ATI Radeon HD 5500 series graphics card, now when I open the game It flckers and flashes. Can some one help please.

If it's your first ATI/AMD card, check for recommended conf.ini settings for those cards.

Get an Nvidia graphics card. Problem solved.

That is not nice or helpful. Plenty of games that don't work great on those cards but fine for others...

OP: in some cases, simply enabling v-sync and getting into the game itself helps.
